The Arts referrers to various artistic expressions like: acting (inc drama and theatre), playing music, singing, dancing, painting, craft, sculpture, poetry, drawing, photography, film-making, animation (inc stop-motion), fashion and architecture.

Artists tend to congregate in large cities because the large population will have access to, and hopefully appreciate, their art. Art can also encompass craft, in fact many cottage industries deal with some kind of craft like making jewellery, clothes or necklaces because they don't need a dedicated (and expensive) premises in which to operate.
